At the elections on 1st May 2025 only eight councillors put themselves forward for election to the parish council, which leaves us with one vacancy to fill.  We therefore invite one resident of our parish to put themselves forward to be co-opted as a councillor. As the hamlets of Westhope, Sutton, Middlehope and Peaton are not represented on the Council, we would especially welcome applicants from those areas.  Set out below is the criteria for eligibility to serve as a candidate.

If you are a British or Commonwealth citizen, citizen of the Republic of Ireland or a European Union citizen who has attained the age of 18 years and either:-

You are registered as a local government elector for the Parish of Diddlebury, or for at least 12 months have occupied as owner or tenant land or other premises in the parish, or

Your main occupation has been in the Parish for the last 12 months, or

You have resided in the Parish or within three miles of its boundaries for at least 12 months and are not disqualified from holding office by reason of any disqualification set out in the Local Government Act 1972, which include bankruptcy, county court orders, non-payment of council taxes, being found guilty of corrupt or illegal practices in election law, then you would be eligible to stand as a co-opted Councillor Diddlebury Parish Council.

We hold generally 10 meetings each year which alternate between Diddlebury and Westhope Village Halls.
